Description
Directional indication for isolated-neutral and compensated medium-voltage networks
The DFI-070 is a directional fault passage indicator for networks where simple overcurrent indication is not enough. It is intended for feeders with Petersen-coil grounding, isolated neutral operation, distributed generation, or complex bidirectional power flow.
The indicator helps operators determine whether the fault is upstream or downstream of the installation point. This can reduce unnecessary line patrols and improve switching decisions.
Typical applications
- Directional fault passage indication for compensated networks
- Separate indication for earth fault and phase fault events
- Remote reset and event transfer when used with a gateway
- Feeders where non-directional indicators may be insufficient
Engineering note: Trip thresholds, reset logic, communication architecture, insulation coordination, EMC performance and installation method must be validated against the target feeder, grounding method, protection settings and applicable utility standards before final specification.
