Description

Energy-harvesting overhead fault indicator for stable-load feeders

The SFI-070 is a self-powered fault indicator for overhead distribution feeders with stable load current. Its energy-harvesting module reduces routine battery maintenance, while a reserve cell supports event reporting during de-energized or low-load conditions.

The device is best suited for feeders where regular maintenance access is difficult and where remote fault indication is required without installing an auxiliary power supply on the pole.

Typical applications

  • Energy harvesting from the conductor magnetic field
  • Reserve energy for outage and restoration messages
  • Low-maintenance remote monitoring points
  • Feeders with predictable load current
Engineering note: Trip thresholds, reset logic, communication architecture, insulation coordination, EMC performance and installation method must be validated against the target feeder, grounding method, protection settings and applicable utility standards before final specification.
