Description
Remote fault passage indication for selected high-voltage overhead line sections
The HVF-220 is a high-voltage overhead line fault indicator concept for long spans and remote line sections where visual inspection can be time-consuming. It provides local service indication and remote fault passage indication for short-circuit events.
The device is not a replacement for line protection relays, distance protection, pilot protection, circuit breakers, or reclosers. Its purpose is to help operators confirm the suspected faulted section and prioritize inspection after protection operation.
Typical applications
- Fault passage indication for 110–220 kV overhead lines
- Remote line sections and difficult terrain
- Receiver interface for control-room alarms
- Rugged enclosure for harsh outdoor environments
Engineering note: Trip thresholds, reset logic, communication architecture, insulation coordination, EMC performance and installation method must be validated against the target feeder, grounding method, protection settings and applicable utility standards before final specification.
